Why is it important to study faith? Part 1
February 11, 2020, 6:00 PM

I ask you this question? Why is it important to study about faith? Do we not hear enough about faith from those faith teachers today? I dare say not, since it appears we still have the poor and the sick with us today. If even I had all faith, then I would not struggle sometimes as we all do with getting what we need, or receiving the healing of our body.

If your sick it does not mean you do not have any faith. But it could be an indication that understanding a little more about faith that can heal you is in order. If you are dealing with financial issues and need a miracle, then understanding a little more about faith for finances is also in order. We need faith to function to get answers to prayer for whatever the need is.

We often believe that we have functioning faith, just because we believe we have faith. But let’s be honest with ourselves. If our faith was functioning perfectly, then we would not be struggling with receiving the answer to our prayers. Some will say that faith might be easy, but it’s not always. Getting faith to work correctly takes action on our part that many times we just are not willing to do, or just don’t know how to make it work.

If you pay close attention, you will see in the scriptures, especially in the New Testament, that faith is part of everything in a believer’s life. You cannot do one thing without running into a place where faith is needed. More importantly, faith comes from God, and God requires it to be pleasing to Him. That alone is reason enough to understand all that we can know about the faith that causes Him to be pleased with us. Look at the scripture.

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Wow; that first part just kind of gets you, doesn’t it? Without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please Him. Could it be that from time to time, we are not tapping into the pleasing part of our relationship with God? I am not saying that He doesn’t love us or that we do not love Him. Of course, He does. But the scripture is clear; It takes faith to please Him.

I am glad that God does not leave us hanging by requiring something that pleases Him, but not giving us the ability to do it. It takes faith to please Him, but the scriptures again show us that He gives us faith to start out. Let’s look at that scripture.

Romans 12:3 (KJV) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, accordingly as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.

This is wonderful. God has given us a measure faith. Not only faith, but His faith. We can rest assured that the faith God has given to us, is faith that can function or can work, if we use it according to the rules that God has established for it to work. We are going to continue this study of faith more in the days ahead.

Remember God loves you and so do we.
